Hello! I’m Casey Quackenbush, a journalist and writer living in New York City.
I write about the wonderful world of American politics, mostly. You can find my work in New York Magazine, The Washington Post, The New York Times, The New York Times Magazine, and more.
Until Covid, I was based in Hong Kong for three years, first as a reporter with Time Magazine, where I wrote a cover story on the drought in Australia and profiled Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern. The Hong Kong protests dominated my work when I turned freelance in 2019.
The pandemic abruptly ended my chapter in Asia, and I wound up back in the U.S. Soon after, Contra Post was born. I first started it in the fall of 2020 to write about the presidential election as I drove across the country in a pick-up truck for four months, covering all sorts right-wing madness all the way up to January 6th.
Nowadays, I have a mailing address, but things are no less insane. I spend most of my time reporting out features for bigger pubs (girl gotta eat), but Contra Post remains a place for all of my other stories. As you’ll see, I have no shortage of those. Don’t miss out.
